Camille VanderMeer
Camille charted her own path when it came to high school rowing and recruitment. Starting off as a soccer player, she transitioned to rowing in her junior year of high school, starting on the erg in her basement. Under a single light bulb and staring at a cinder block wall, she was able to achieve erg times that got her attention from the country’s top collegiate rowing programs in just a few months. After learning to row first in the single in the spring of her junior year, she placed 2nd at US Rowing Youth Nationals just a few months later, and went on to represent the US at the U19 World Championships the next summer.
After matriculating to Princeton, Camille became a 3x Ivy League Champion, 2x NCAA Medallist, First Team All-American. She was also named captain of Princeton Women’s Crew for the 2022-2023 season, as well as being named Academic All-Ivy League. Internationally, she won a gold medal at the 2022 U23 World Rowing Championships in the BW8+.
Post college, Camille continues her rowing career at the USRowing Training Center, where she competed in the Olympic Development W8+ at the 2024 Henley Royal Regatta, reaching the final in the Remenham Cup for Championship Women’s 8s.
